The derivative of the function is the equivalence of the velocity graph. The velocity graph depicts the slope of the original graph at any given point. The area under the graph finds the total distance the object had traveled.
The derivative of the velocity graph (which is the same as the second derivative of the original graph) is the same as the acceleration graph. The acceleration graph tells how fast the object's velocity is increasing at a certain point. The area under the graph tells the change in velocity during the interval.
